Our take

Thatch has one of the most modern product stories in the category. It combines ICHRA administration with a health wallet, employee support, payroll connectivity, and APIs that allow other software platforms to embed benefits workflows.

## What Thatch is trying to make easier

Thatch approaches ICHRA as part of a broader employee health-benefit experience. Employers set a budget, employees choose individual coverage, and the platform can also support eligible health spending under the plan’s rules. [source](https://thatch.com/) [source](https://thatch.com/ichra)

The public experience is designed to feel more like a modern financial or benefits app than a traditional reimbursement portal. That can be attractive to technology-forward employers, but buyers still need to understand how the polished interface connects to insurance enrollment, premium payments, payroll, and ongoing support.

## What stood out in our review

Member experience

### A modern health wallet

Thatch puts the employee-facing experience at the center of the product story.

Platform strategy

### APIs and embeddable components

The company publishes tools for software partners that want to integrate ICHRA workflows into another product.

Market change

### The Venteur customer transition

Thatch announced and documented the 2026 move of Venteur employers, employees, and broker partners to its platform.

## Who Thatch is most likely to fit

Thatch appears best suited to technology-forward employers that care about a modern employee experience, as well as software platforms that want to embed health-benefit functionality. It may also appeal to companies that want the employer contribution to support a broader wallet experience in addition to individual coverage.

Buyers should separate the ICHRA insurance workflow from other wallet features. The plan rules, eligible expenses, payment rails, and support model may differ depending on how the benefit is configured.

## What the Venteur transition means

Thatch announced an agreement on April 1, 2026, to transition Venteur employers, employees, and broker partners to Thatch. Later support documentation described the customer-transfer timeline. This makes Thatch more relevant in the ICHRA market and demonstrates an ability to absorb another provider’s customer base. It does not, by itself, prove that every migration was smooth or that customers were satisfied.

## Pricing and performance claims

**Current public observation · September 25, 2026:** the Standard page shows a four-enrolled-employee example: $45 × 4 plus a $50 compliance fee, or $230 monthly. The Custom presentation for 50+ eligible employees shows a 10-enrolled-employee minimum of $2,400 a year. The example does not establish a universal $50 compliance fee or the date a fee changed. Thatch says it bills only employees enrolled through the platform. [source](https://thatch.com/pricing)

Thatch announced a $108 million Series C on September 15, alongside distribution and marketplace initiatives. Those are company developments, not proof of employee outcomes or a reason to infer service quality. ## What we would ask in a Thatch demo

- What is the full employer and member fee structure?
- Which payroll connections are native, and what data moves in each direction?
- How do premiums, wallet expenses, and reimbursements use different payment methods?
- What licensed insurance guidance is available to employees?
- How were Venteur contracts, data, unresolved reimbursements, and service histories handled?
- What API scope, sandbox access, security requirements, and implementation support apply to platform partners?

## Our verdict

### Thatch is one of the most interesting options for employers or platforms that want more than a basic reimbursement tool.

The health-wallet experience, payroll positioning, APIs, and Venteur transition make it stand out. The buying decision should still depend on complete pricing, payment operations, integration detail, and service performance—not the interface alone.
