About the insurance-plan data

The insurance-price explorer helps you compare published monthly prices and plan details by county. Here is where those figures come from, how current they are, and what you should confirm before choosing coverage.

Where the figures come from

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a federal agency, publishes the original insurance-plan file. ICHRA Report uses selected information from that file to show monthly premiums, plan details and links to insurers' documents.

This edition covers the 2026 plan year in 30 states and 2,055 counties. It does not cover every U.S. market. These are government-published plan records; we have not collected them from employers or surveyed members.

How current the prices are

CMS source updated: August 26, 2026.
Added to this explorer: September 12, 2026.

This is a dated snapshot. Prices and plan details do not refresh automatically, and this edition does not show 2027 prices. We review and publish a new edition when we update the underlying data.

What to check before choosing a plan

  • Your actual monthly price: displayed premiums are published examples for selected adult ages, before tax credits or employer contributions. Your age, address, household and tobacco use may affect a quote.
  • Availability and eligibility: a county listing does not establish that you can enroll at your address. Confirm with the insurer or your official Marketplace.
  • Coverage and costs: check your doctors, prescriptions, benefits and the full plan terms. A premium alone does not tell you what care will cost.

Use the explorer to prepare questions and narrow your research. It does not determine eligibility for tax credits or whether an employer's ICHRA offer meets affordability rules.

Technical methodology & downloads

For readers who want to check our processing or reuse the data. All source links and county files below are public and require no account.

Original files and record count

The import contains 97,082 plan/county/rating-area records. A plan may appear more than once across locations; this count is not a count of unique plans or enrolled members.

How we process the file

State and county codes retain their original identifiers. Each record retains its HIOS plan ID, rating area and source worksheet row. Six published adult premium scenarios are stored as integer cents. Exact duplicates are removed; conflicting duplicates stop the import. This release found zero duplicate records. Prices are not averaged across ages or counties, weighted by enrollment, or extrapolated to missing states.

Data transformations can contain errors. Availability and external document links may change. Use the correction form above to send supporting evidence.
